Peace in Islam
Peace between individuals
Narrated Sayyiatina 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person." (Bukhari)
Peace among the people
Narrated Umm Kulthum bint 'Uqba (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) saying, "He who makes peace between the people by inventing good information or saying good things, is not a liar."(Bukhari)
Peace within the tribe
Narrated Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): There was a dispute amongst the people of the tribe of Bani 'Amr bin 'Awf. The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) went to them along with some of his Companions in order to make peace between them. (Bukhari)
Peace in a town
Narrated Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd. Once the people of Quba' fought with each other till they threw stones at each other. When Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) was informed about it, he said, "Let us go to bring about a reconciliation between them." (Bukhari)
Peace with the enemy
Narrated Hadrat Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him): When Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) concluded the peace treaty of Hudaybiya, Sayyidina 'Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote the document and he mentioned in it, "Muhammad, Allah's Messenger" (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him). The polytheists said, "Don't write: 'Muhammad, Allah's Messenger', for if you were Allah's Messenger, we would not fight with you." Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) asked Sayyidina 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to rub it out, but Sayyidina 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will not be the person to rub it out." Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) rubbed it out and made peace with them on the condition that he and his Companions would enter Makka and stay there for three days, and that they would enter with their weapons in cases. (Bukhari)
Narrated Hadrat Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (may Allah be pleased with him): On the day of Hudaybiya, the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) made a peace treaty with the polytheists on three conditions:- The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) would return to them any person from the pagans coming to him, while the pagans would not return any of the Muslims going to them; the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and his Companions would come to Makka the following year and would stay there for three days and would enter Makka with their weapons such as swords, bows and arrows in cases. Hadrat Abu Jandal (may Allah be pleased with him) came hopping, his legs being chained, but the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) returned him to the polytheists. (Bukhari)
Peace between nations
Narrated Hadrat 'Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "There will be a peace treaty between you and Bani Al-Asfar (the Byzantines)." (Bukhari)
Root out oppression
Narrated Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "Help you brother, whether his is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one." The people asked, "O Allah's Messenger! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "By preventing him from oppressing others." (Bukhari)
Narrated Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) sent Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen and said, "Be afraid from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah." (Bukhari)
Safwan bin Sulaym quoted on the authority of a number of the sons of the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) who narrated on the authority of their fathers that Allah's Messenger (may Alla''s blessings and peace be upon him) said, "If anyone wrongs a man with whom a covenant has been made, or curtails any right of his, or imposes on him more than he can bear, or takes anything from him without his ready agreement, I shall be his adversary on the Day of Resurrection." (Abu Dawud)
