Health and Physical Education in Islam
I want to know about health and physical education.
Nawab
Assalamu 'alaykum Nawab Zada,
According to a Hadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, a strong Muslim is better than a weak one. It should also be remembered that in Islam, the strength of iman (faith) is more important than physical strength.
We are expected to pray both for good health of the body as well as the heart.
Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam advised us to teach the boys horse riding, archery and swimming.
A golden principle taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam is always to keep to moderation, and not to do things in excess. For example, if we eat in moderation, we can avoid very many diseases. According to a Hadith Sharif, one-third of the stomach is for food, one-third for water and one-third for air.
The sahaba (Companions) of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam were physically fit and ready for Jihad at all times.
Muslims should excel in taqwa (piety), 'ibada (worship), as well as in sports within the boundaries of sharia (sacred Muslim law). Women should be provided separate facilities.
With many salaams and dua,
Siddiq
Muslim Activities in Portugal
Assalamu aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
I´m a muslim student of college, in Portugal (near Spain), and congratulate you for your wonderful website Mashallah. It has much information about Islam and topics on subjects that are unknown to many Muslims.
The adab to the Sheikh is a very important aspect nowadays, when unfortunaly people hesitate in believing in the Awliya Allah.
I belong to a group of youngsters here in Darululoom Kadiriya Ashrafiya, and we have Alhamdulillah, a lot of activities like doing pamphlets, writing articles, doing NIAZ for 1000 people, and so on.
In this month dedicated to Our Sultan-ê-Awlya-Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (r.a.), we will do the same Inshallah.
We´d like to write a short article explaining what is Niaz and why people do it in Iguiarmi Sharif for example or in other months. But we haven't got much information about the subject. Can you help us?
We´ve seen the articles written by students. They are very good Mashallah. I hope we could be more in touch Inshallah
Wassalam
Abdul
